Jim Tucker, DTM joined Toastmasters to improve his communication skills. A supervisor invited
him to be his guest at a Toastmasters meeting. An "on-the-job" speaking failure made Jim a hot
prospect. The words, "Our club’s goal is to make members better speakers" was all the convincing
Jim needed. He accepted the invite and started the program. He learned that the program works
when you work the program. Jim competed three times in the Toastmasters' World Championship of
Public Speaking finals. This accomplishment further validated "better speaking is possible."
That is why he finds increasing joy in helping others who are willing to become better speakers.
